Hello and welcome to Terminal Trend!

My name’s Ruby and this is is my blog.
Through Terminal Trend I’d love to share with you the 3 major aspects of my life – Travel, Fashion, and Passion.
The first two are definitely self explanatory and the third, Passion, will cover everything that doesn’t quite fit in to the first two.
So, I guess you could say this is a Travel and Fashion oriented Lifestyle blog.

Ok, we’ve gotten the basic explanation out of the way, so let me tell you a bit about myself.

Hi, again, I’m Ruby.
I was born in Southern California and was fortunate enough that my parents started traveling with me when I was very young.  I only have vague memories about my first out-of-country trip when I was 3, but going back through our photo albums of that trip and my parents earlier trips before I was born was always one of my favorite things to do.
As I got older, my parents took me on trips regularly, from cross-country month long road trips to weekends exploring colonial towns of the East coast to camping in Northern California “hunting for Bigfoot”.  I think it’s fair to say everyone in my family has the travel bug.

As I entered college, I stopped traveling and devoted all of my time to one of my other passions – Acting.  Hollywood consumed my life.  Acting is a full time job, even when you’re not on set, and after a while I really needed a break.
I’d been fortunate enough that I’d saved up a bit while and decided to take a few weeks off.  I set out for Israel on my 27th birthday and, man, the travel bug bit me hard again.  It completely spiraled from there and I found myself constantly looking for the next opportunity to get away.

10 months later I found myself on a solo trip to Japan and that’s where things really changed.  I absolutely fell in love with the country and decided I needed to find some way to stay a while.  A friend recommended going to a language school that would allow me to stay in the country for 3 months.  Perfect!
I checked my savings account, packed up my stuff, sub-let my room in LA, and with one of my best friends joining me for half the trip, headed back to Tokyo for a 3 month adventure!
The last 3 weeks of my stay, I met someone.  Through him, and the constant travel a long-distance relationship requires, I was inspired to start my own business.  I had completely stumbled in to the world of fashion and discovered I loved it.

I relocated to Tokyo in the beginning of 2015 and now design and run my own fashion accessory line called Rkt.
Through my business, my partner’s business, and the fact that traveling within Asia is pretty easy, I’ve racked up over 30 flights and 15 countries in the span of a year.  I’ve become fairly decent at this travel thing.

I hope my tips, photos, itineraries, and joys help to inspire you to live life to the fullest and embrace every opportunity that comes your way.
